Elon Musk had previously indicated that he wanted Twitter to be a platform that upholds free speech. However, since acquiring the company, Twitter has been anything but. Last week, over 100,000 accounts were reportedly suspended or blocked for mentioning a crypto project called Metatime as part of a token airdrop campaign. Twitter is a popular platform for crypto projects to share information and engage with their communities, so the decision to ban such a large number of accounts for simply retweeting and sharing messages from Metatime came as a shock. Twitter bans over 100,000 accounts associated with the cryptocurrency project Metatime.

The crypto community responded swiftly to Twitter's recent act of censorship. Thousands of people shared the hashtag #FreeMetaTime to draw attention to the issue and try to get the affected accounts unblocked. The campaign was inspired by a tweet from Metatime CEO Yusuf Sevim, who appealed to Elon Musk to intervene and help get the locked, banned, and suspended accounts back to their rightful owners. Sevim explained that Metatime is a "freedom project" that has already gained support from over 350,000 people globally since its launch six months ago. He also highlighted the MetaAirdrop campaign, which gives supporters a chance to earn free MetatimeCoin ($MTC) tokens by sharing their ideas and support for the project. The decision to ban so many accounts isn't just a problem for Metatime but for everyone who uses social media platforms, raising serious questions about the boundaries of freedom of thought and expression. Sevim called on Elon Musk to defend their community's right to express their ideas freely and stand together.

Metatime is facing difficulties as many thousands of accounts remain inaccessible to their users, and Sevim's tweet and a follow-up post have gone unanswered. Although Elon Musk may not have seen Sevim's tweet, his inaction contradicts public statements made by him and Twitter's new CEO Linda Yaccarino. In a recent memo to employees, Yaccarino stated that an "unfiltered exchange of information and open dialogue about the things that matter most to us" is essential for a healthy civilization. She added that "you should have the freedom to speak your mind. We all should." However, what happened to Metatime indicates that Twitter still has a long way to go to fulfill these promises. Hys Sahin, co-founder of Metatime, stated that the project will continue to pressure Musk and Twitter until every blocked account is restored to its user. The community's support for the "Free Metatime" movement is truly remarkable, and together, they will continue to support one another until every account is unblocked.
